WHY IS IMPORTANT TO LEARN HOW TO MOVE IN THE PADEL COURT?
The way you move in the padel court is fundamental to develop a good game.
But, why is so important?
Think that, there is ways of getting points in padel, when opponent fail the shot or winning ourselfs with our shots so basically if you don´t want to wait all the time for your opponent to fail to earn points you will have to regularly go to the net to give some pressure, this is a basic rule of padel tennis, most points are won in the net, so moving good in the padel court is the key factor to win points, many times is the least interest is usually paid for begginer players, they use to tend to wait a long time for the ball and only move when it is simply essential and rely on the simple hand ability to make a winning shot. Sometimes it works but if we really want to improve in padel we have to take into account where we are going to go in each moment of the points.
We recommend you to differentiate the game situation. Are you defending or attacking?
- THE WAY YOU MOVE IN THE PADEL COURT IS FUNDAMENTAL TO DEVELOP A GOOD GAME
PLAYING DEFENSIVE IN PADEL
To defende in padel you must to stay behind the service line and close to the back wall and prepare yourself to hit the ball after the first bounce in the court, since the padel court is sorrounded to glass walls you will probably have to move around the ball to wait to the bounce in the glass wall and continue with the point.
A good tip when you are playing defensive, hit the ball with control and with the idea of continuing the point, avoid the fast/winner shots that is taking you carry all the risk, if your opponents are ready, it will be very difficult for you to earn points from the defense zone.
PLAYING OFFENSIVE IN PADEL
In offensive case, we need to get closer to the net.
In short words, we must AVOID the MIDDLE AREA where the ball use to bounce and can catch us in a very dificult situation to play a good shot.
To decide where to stay in defensive or ofensive time, we will also consider our physical ability, if you are fast player, you can get ahead close to the net more aggressively, knowing that, you will get to volley even if you have to go further back right after; if you are slower player, get further behind, you will gain wall shots confidence with the time, but at some point you must learn to go ahead and attack the volleys, there is where the points use to be finished.
HOW TO MOVE WITH YOUR PARTNER
The coordination of the way you move in the court with your partner it´s crucial, you and your partner must to move forward and backwards as you were one player, it is equally important to move side to side, depending where the ball is placed in the court.
A good tip to understand how you move in the padel court is simulating a “car windshiel wiper” both moving at the same time left, right.
A partner that moves independently and not considering the partner location is an important mistake in padel, when this happend, this situation will give to the opponents open spaces in the court where they can attack and win the point.

Move as the team were one person, to correctly deploy this game it is important to understand that the ball will be the reference point to move:
· When one of the players move to one side to hit the ball the other partner must to move in the same direction, keeping the distance trying to cover the center of the court.
· In the same way, your partner would perform the same maneuver if the ball is being played in the other half of the court. In other words, the players move to the right and left in the same way as a car’s windshield wipers do so the player facing the ball does not lose his position since his partner covers the central free space that he has left open.
Keeping this simple rule in mind while you are playing padel it will improve your game as a team.
What happend if both going to the same ball?
The situation where both of the players going to take the ball in the middle of the court is very usual, when this happend, it´s important to understand that you must to do an alternative shot in which both of you have time to relocate in the court and have the option to continue with the point, making winners or risky shots when this situation happens use to be a bad idea.
